EPAct Tax Savings for Lighting

Posted on

The EPAct ( Energy Policy Act of 2005) Tax savings for lighting encourages builders, architects, and engineers to install energy-saving alternatives, like LED lighting retrofits.

In return, tax deductions are offered if the building (new construction or remodelled project) meets the criteria to be categorized as an energy-efficient commercial property.

There are also partial tax deductions if individual lighting systems in the building meet the criteria specified in EPAct.

Accordingly, facility owners can reap immensely from tax deductions just by using energy-efficient lighting systems.

EPAct 179D is the section that covers tax deductions for commercial buildings.

Occupancy Sensors and Vacancy Sensors

Posted on

Occupancy sensors and vacancy sensors are devices designed to detect when a space is occupied or unoccupied and trigger the lights accordingly. This energy-saving solution can dim or turn off the lights automatically after a set amount of time a particular space is unoccupied as well as turn the lights on when someone enters.

Also known as microwave or passive infrared motion sensors, this technology is a great way to save energy and keep your space secure.

In this article, we’re taking a closer look at occupancy sensors and vacancy sensors.

Lighting Control Systems and Sensors for Commercial Applications

Posted on

Did you know that in the United States, 17% of the energy consumed in commercial buildings is used by lighting systems?

That being said, it is important as a business owner to manage the lights in your commercial building efficiently to reduce energy costs.

One way that can be made possible is with the use of energy-efficient lighting control systems and sensors.

Here’s what it looks like:

Commercial lighting control systems are a combination of controllers, sensors, inputs, and outputs that offer a more efficient lighting system.

These systems ensure that the lights in your building are unified and, therefore, becomes an easier and painless way to manage the light fixtures and reduce energy expenses.

The Benefit of LED Parking Garage Lighting

Posted on

LED parking garage lighting can make your parking space safer and more secure.

These lights deliver bright, uniform lighting and minimize shadows which helps to improve drivers’ and pedestrian’s visibility in these areas.

On the other hand, the use of LED technology by light fixtures provides energy savings and reduced operational costs.

The latter is beneficial since a safe parking garage must be well illuminated 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, which could potentially spike energy bills.

For this reason, LED parking garage lighting can offer safe and secure lighting, while at the same time offer huge cost savings in the long run.

It is, therefore, a sustainable solution for your parking garage unlike fluorescent lights, metal halide, and halogens.
